ELECTION SMITHFIELD, NORTH CAROLINA A Municipal Election will be held on November 5, 2019, in the Town of Smithfield, North Carolina to vote on a Mayor and Town Council Members. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. The polling place will be located at: East Smithfield Precinct: First Christian Ministry Center, 124 S. Fourth St. North Smithfield 1 & North Smithfield 2: Smithfield Church of God, 1710 W. Market St. South Smithfield Precinct: First Christian Church, 1001 Crescent Drive Absentee ballots are allowed. Any qualified voter may vote by absentee ballot. The voter may apply for an absentee ballot beginning on Friday, October 4, 2019. The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot to be mailed to the voter is 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2019. The Board of Elections will meet at 4:00 p.m. October 15, October 22, October 29 and other times as may be necessary for the purpose of approving absentee ballot applications. Counting of absentee ballots will begin at 5:00 p.m. November 5, 2019 in the Johnston County Board of Elections Office in Smithfield. One-stop voting will be held in the Board of Elections Office beginning Wednesday, October 16, 2019 and ending on Friday, November 1, 2019. One-stop voting hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 205 South Second Street in Smithfield. Saturday, October 26th hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Canvass day will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Johnston County Board of Elections Office in Smithfield on November 15, 2019.
