Arms Around Selma organizers seek community projects

I would like to let everyone in the Selma area know of an important upcoming event in our community. The Selma Ministries Association is spearheading our 11th annual “Arms Around Selma” event on Saturday, Nov. 16 On that day, members of all the churches in the Selma area are coming together to “bless” our town in the name of Jesus!

Hundreds will gather in Selma Elementary School’s parking lot to receive assignments all around town and even into the surrounding community. Last year we worked on wheelchair ramps, installed grab bars, washed windows, replaced a storm door, baked cookies for our “community helpers,” raked leaves, picked up trash and completed many other projects besides. It was great fun and everyone had a good time working together and making new friends along the way!

Now we need your help. We are currently gathering a list of projects for our teams to work on. If you, or someone you know, needs some help with home repairs or yard work, or some other project that you know about, please let us know by contacting your local pastor or calling me, Kelton Hinton, at 919-965-9450 with your need.

Our only limitations are that the project must be able to be completed in one day with all-volunteer labor and any construction-related projects must be in owner-occupied dwellings, not rental properties.

Thank you for your timely attention to this matter.

Kelton Hinton
