For the first time in several years, outboard powerboat racing will make its return to Buckhorn Reservoir.

Hosted by Carolina Virginia Racing Association and sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association, Southeast Divisional championships will be at stake in the modified and junior classes during the weekend of Sept. 21-23. Racing will also take place in the stock division.

Friday, Sept. 21 will be reserved for practice time, with racing taking place Saturday and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.

Approximately 50 to 60 heats will be contested, with boat speeds reaching 80 miles per hour. The weekend’s activities will be free to the public.
