Church schedules special service

ANGIER — Providence Presbyterian Church at McGee’s Crossroads will join the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic in a service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12.

The Rev. Nadia Stropich will preach the sermon. The Rev. Bucky Hunsicker and Ruling Elders Phil Stump and Jimmy Richardson will receive Providence into the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic. A reception will follow in the upper fellowship hall.

Writers to meet in Garner, Clayton

The Clayton Writers Guild is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Conundrum Escapes, 41-A Technology Drive, Garner, and 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at the Flipside Restaurant, 408 E. Second St. in downtown Clayton. Meetings are free and open to the public. Group facilitator is Alison Hendrix.

Chamber plans ‘Coffee Connections’

SMITHFIELD — The Triangle East Chamber of Commerce will hold its next Coffee Connections at 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. The Johnston Health Foundation is this month’s host.

Coffee Connections is a structured networking event, and all attendees get the chance to introduce their business. Admission is free.

Livestock arena board to meet

SMITHFIELD — The Johnston County Livestock Arena Management Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the livestock arena, 520 County Home Road.

Library plans open-mic night

SELMA — The Selma Public Library, 301 N. Pollock St., will hold its Fourth Friday open mic night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24. All musicians and spectators are welcome to attend.
