ZEBULON — State troopers are seeking witnesses to help identify a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in rural Johnston County near the Wake County line.

Troopers say a vehicle struck 48-year-old pedestrian Rigoberto Valencia Talavera around 8 p.m. Thursday on Earpsboro Road south of Zebulon. Talavera, who had a Zebulon address, died of his injuries at the scene, according to N.C. Highway Patrol spokesman 1st Sgt. Michael Baker.

Baker said the vehicle involved in the crash left the scene traveling west toward N.C. 39. A description of the vehicle was unavailable.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or driver involved is asked to call the N.C. Highway Patrol’s Johnston County office at 919-934-2186 or the agency’s Raleigh communications center at 1-800-662-7956.
