SMITHFIELD ­­— Four Johnston County graduates will be inducted into the Johnston County Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Corinth Holders High School.

The four former players are Smithfield-Selma’s Reggie Barnes, Clayton’s Johnny Dutch, South Johnston’s Brian Honeycutt and Meadow High’s Phil Lee.

Barnes, a 1985 graduate, played basketball for the Spartans and went on to play at Charlotte. Dutch, class of 2007, is one of the best hurdlers in history of the state with nine North Carolina High School Athletic Association championships, an NCAA championship while at the University of South Carolina, a national championship and has represented the U.S. in world championships. Honeycutt graduated in 1992 and Lee graduated in 1966.

Tickets may be purchased at any of the eight Johnston County high schools. Since its first induction ceremony in 2007, the hall of fame has inducted 74 former athletes.
