LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Parker Moody added to his championship largesse with a pair of gold-medal performances at the 2018 U.S. Open Breaking Championships, contested in July at the Coronado Springs Resort.

Sanctioned by the United States and World Breaking Association, the 16-year-old Moody, a junior at Community Christian School, captured national championships in the Ages 15-17 Male All Ranks High Jump Breaking competition and the Ages 13-17 Male Advanced/Black Belt Power Wood Hand-Breaking event.

In High Jump Breaking, Moody successfully broke a height of 78.5 inches, which was 9.5 inches ahead of runner-up Cliffordt Du Plessis.

Moody won the Power Wood Hand-Breaking competition by dispensing with nine out of 10 boards. That percentage was good enough to best runner-up Eric Kempson, who broke six of nine boards.

Moody, who studies taekwondo at Dong’s Martial Arts School of Wilson, is trained by master instructor Matt Mercer and Bob Treadwell.
