NEWTON GROVE — The Princeton boys basketball team began its 1-A Carolina Conference season with a victory, coasting to an easy 72-27 win over Newton Grove Hobbton on the road Tuesday night.
Sophomore Nayshin Waller exploded for 25 points to lead the Bulldogs, who are 7-3 on the season. In each quarter, Princeton led, starting with a game-high 27-point effort in the first quarter, matching the eventual final total of the Wildcats with three quarters left to be played.
On the defensive end, Princeton limited Hobbton to single-digit points in every quarter, locking down the Wildcats with a game-low four points in the final quarter.
Princeton continued into conference play against Rose Hill Union on Wednesday, and will travel to North Duplin next Tuesday.
