PRINCETON — The Princeton High varsity baseball team got a sacrifice fly from Jacob Barnes in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk-off with a 3-2 win at home against 1-A Carolina Conference foe North Duplin on Thursday, April 18.
The Bulldogs (6-9, 3-7 CC) snapped a six-game losing streak in conference play with the win. Barnes was the leading hitter for the Bulldogs as he finished 2 for 5 with a double, the only extra-base hit of the game, and an RBI.
Princeton senior Tyler Thompson pitched all eight innings allowing just five hits, two runs, one earned and two walks. The senior struck out five in picking up his third win in five decisions.
The Bulldogs will next be in action on Friday, April 26, against Cape Hatteras at their Deacon Jones Invitational with a first pitch set for 7 p.m.
