Princeton takes home girls track conference crown

SALEMBURG — Led by a pair of individual winners, the Princeton High girls indoor track team seized the 1-A Carolina Conference championship Tuesday at Lakewood

Neuse Charter finished fourth but Tylyia Triggs won four conference championships, scoring 32 of the Lady Cougars’ 36 total points, as she finished first in the long jump, shot put, 55-meter hurdles and 55 dash.

Two Lady Bulldogs took home individual championships as Sydney Norris won the pole vault and Brooke Conolly was first in the 1,600 run. The Lady Bulldogs finished with 100 points comfortably ahead of Hobbton in second with 78.5.

Lane Woodall won the 1,000, 1,600 and 3,200 runs to help the Princeton boys to second place, narrowly losing the championship, 93-87, to host Lakewood. The Bulldogs also got conference championships from Tyrese Merrill in the triple jump and Benjamin Bayles in the pole vault.
