PRINCETON — Competing on her home track Saturday at the NCRunners Eastern Invitational on Saturday, Princeton High senior Zoe Byrd posted top-5 finishes in three events to lead the Lady Bulldogs to an 11th-place finish in the 24-team field.
Byrd placed third in the girls triple jump at 32 feet, 8.75 inches. Joidon Boddie of Raleigh Enloe was the winner at 34-10.
Byrd was fourth in the long jump at 14-9.5 and fifth in 100-meter hurdles in 18.06 seconds.
Two other Princeton athletes also had top-5 showings at the meet, which attracted two dozen teams from central and eastern North Carolina.
Benjamin Bayles placed third in the pole vault for the Bulldogs with a clearance of 10-6 inches. The Lady Bulldogs’ Brook Connolly finished fifth in the high jump at 4-6.
Neuse Charter’s Tylyia Triggs also had a top-10 finish by placing sixth in the long jump with a leap of 14-2.75. Smithfield-Selma’s Drew Topoly was eighth in the boys 800 run in 2:09.14.
The SSS boys 4x800 relay was fifth in 9:10.94 while the Lady Spartans 4x100 tandem placed 10th in 1:01.4.
Princeton’s other top ten finishes came from Lane Woodall in the boys 3,200 run (sixth, 10:44.47), Bryant Keokanya in the boys high jump (eighth, 5-6), Blake Tinker in the boys triple jump (ninth, 34-3.5), Gray Thomas in the boys pole vault (sixth, 8-6), the boys 4x800 relay (sixth, 9:33.30) and boys 4x400 relay (ninth, 3:58.47).
