SELMA — Skyler Allen said she’s happy to have been hired last week as a full-time administrative assistant for the Selma Parks and Recreation Department.

Allen is still a student at the University of Mount Olive and since February, she’s been serving as an intern in the department where she will now be working on a full-time basis.

Allen, a Clayton native, is the daughter of Chris Allen and Saraj Allen. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 2015 and enrolled at UMO to pursue a degree and career in recreation and leisure studies.

Allen is still on track to graduate on Aug. 17 and eventually plans to pursue her master’s degree in sports administration.

Billy Roach, director of Selma recreation and library services, said he’s pleased Allen has chosen to join the Selma Parks and Recreation team.

“During her internship with us, she has been productive, positive and pleasant in each task that she completes,” said Roach. “She is self-motivated and self-reliant and will be a fine asset.”

Allen said her hobbies include going to the beach and doing anything with her family. She said her other major interest at the moment is her 1-year-old Lab mix named Lola.
