SMITHFIELD — Because of the coronavirus, the Town of Smithfield will close its parks and playgrounds indefinitely starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 25.

The closure covers ball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, picnic shelters, fitness stations and park restrooms. The town’s greenway and trails will remain open, but the town asks residents to follow these guidelines:

• Refrain from using trails if you are showing ymptoms.

• While on trails, alert other users of your presence as you pass and step aside to let others pass.

• Observe the minimum recommended social distancing of 6 feet from other individuals.
