CLAYTON — The Johnston County Public Health Department on Saturday reported three COVID-19 cases among residents of Springbrook Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Clayton.

After receiving notice of a positive case at the nursing home, the Health Department notified Springbrook’s management, Dr. Marilyn Pearson, the Health Department’s director, said in a news release on Saturday. The Health Department also contacted the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services and the state’s Division of Health Services Regulation, Pearson said.

“The safety of all Johnston County residents is our priority,” she said.

A COVID-19 outbreak in a nursing home is two or more confirmed cases, Pearson said. Springbrook has received guidance on care, including “adhering to infection-prevention precautions for residents and staff and limiting opportunities for the infection to spread to others in the facility,” she said.
