SMITHFIELD — Police are searching for a suspect accused of fatally shooting a 39-year-old man found dead in his home Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the Forbes Drive home at 9:48 a.m. and discovered David Callejas Arroyo’s body, according to Capt. Ryan Sheppard of the Smithfield Police Department. Roughly eight hours after arriving at the scene, police released a suspect’s description.

Investigators are seeking a dark-skinned Hisapnic man who’s about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. The suspect has a “full scruffy beard” and was last seen wearing a black hat with red writing on it, a black windbreaker and blue jeans. Police have not released a name.

“Smithfield Police Department investigators do not believe this was a random act,” Sheppard said in a news release. “However, the suspect in this matter should be considered dangerous.”

Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts or who has details that may be helpful to investigators is asked to call the Smithfield Police Department at 919-934-2121.
