INDIANAPOLIS — Barton College freshman men’s swimmer Barlomiej Swiderski has qualified for the 2020 NCAA Division II Championship, becoming the first swimmer in program history to earn a spot in the competition.
Swiderski, who set school records in the 100-yard and 200 backstroke at the 2020 Royal Open in Charlotte, will compete in the finals of both events during nationals, which will be held from March 11-14 at the SPIRE Institute Aquatics Center in Geneva, Ohio.
The Warsaw, Poland, native’s time of 1 minute, 46.59 seconds in the 200 backstroke also ranks 11th in NCAA Division II ranks. Swiderski also holds the program record in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly.
Earlier this month, Swiderski aided the Bulldogs in their second-consecutive Conference Carolinas men’s swimming championship. During that meet, Swiderski won 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke.
